Good Riddance Negative Thoughts (Please)

29/5/2020

I have gone back and forth about writing this post – mostly because there has been so much negativity in the press, and I myself have been feeling very negative. However, I want to be positive about going 'back' to school. In fact, I was in school today, even though it is half term, for the key worker children. I took a picture before I left with the intention of using it for this post but when I got back, I took another one. Leaving, I was nervous and worried; coming back, I was relaxed and happy. I could see this in the photos I took and even though this wasn't my original intention, I'm glad I did it. Honestly, school is a happy place and I just hope we can make it that way - even with all the new guidelines and rules - for the children, when they come back on June 1st.

How my 'inner anxiety girl' responds to mental health awareness week

15/5/2020

Welcome guys! Next week, according to the mental health foundation website, is mental health awareness week and the theme is ‘kindness’. Personally, I don’t think this could have come at a better time – do you?

This blog is part confessional, part ‘what I’ve learned’ and part sharing advice based on my experiences but it all relates to this theme of kindness and mental health wellbeing. Now whilst a lot of focus is going to centre around being kind to others – which I get, I really get – we tend to forget about ourselves: what’s that about!? You put out an extension of how you are feeling inside. If I’m foul, I’m normally foul to those around me but, similarly, if I’m feeling upbeat and positive, this tends to resonate with others. This is why I want to talk about something often forgotten about. Being kind to yourself.

Every mind matters

3/4/2020

As I write this, we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic of the likes we have never seen before in our lifetimes. It can be scary, worrying about loved ones or ourselves, and it can be frustrating being confined to your house with nowhere to go and not being able to do the things you once did. Hanging out with friends is suddenly risking lives, going outside for anything other than essentials and you could be risking lives. It is a scary, scary world.
This post is here to discuss some ways we can be more positive during this time of lockdown.
